3 May - Berchtesgaden

Today, we took an all day bus tour to Berchtesgaden. Our first stop was the Salt Mines. Again, no pictures allowed but it is still and active salt mine that has a lot of character. You have to put on "miner clothes" and there are LARGE slides and trains to get into the mine. Also, in Berchtesgarden is Eagles Nest. This was Hiltler's retreat. However, due to the weather...snowy still...it was closed. Bummer. However, we did see it we just couldn't go inside. BUT, we went to a Schnapps Factory...YUM! Complete with taste tests and all! This pic. is the front of the factory. Long but fun day. Tomorrow we are going to Ettal, Oberammergau, and everything around that! More of my family favorites. Then we are heading towards the Black Forest. We don't have any hotel plans for tomorrow so I doubt we will be able to find a place to post. We will be with friends on Friday so we will catch up with you then!
